Redness, drying, itching, peeling and burning sensation are the most common side effects associated with sulfur. They appear with the start of treatment where they tend to be at their worst. Hence always start gradually with small doses and build up as you develop tolerance for it.
Though the severe side effects rarely appears with the use of topical sulfur applications, but if you see some discomfort, then cut down the dosages for a while.
Some popular brands containing sulfur as their ingredient can easily discolor your skin. Also if the odor of the product is too strong or repulsive then you should always go for a more pleasant scented product.
